When other oils are mixed into the lubricating oil, the solution is to change the oil and flush the lubrication system, which cannot be removed by filtering.
Using the wrong type of lubricant is also a common problem, which can be caused by accidentally adding the wrong oil when changing the oil, or simply choosing the wrong oil. For example, if the equipment needs extreme pressure type lubricating oil (EP) or anti-wear type lubricating oil (AW), and the user mistakenly adds the general anti-oxygen and rust type oil, it will cause wear and tear in the operation of the equipment.
If the anti-emulsification of lubricating oil has a high requirement of equipment, mixed with oil with a clear dispersant, then the anti-emulsification of oil/oil-water separation will be weakened. For example, steam turbine oil mixed with engine oil, 1 liter of oil mixed with 7000 liters of steam turbine oil, you can destroy the anti-emulsification of steam turbine oil, so be sure to avoid lubricating oil mixed. In this case, you need to change the oil and flush the lubrication system.
For example, if the equipment has yellow metal (such as copper), but needs to use extreme pressure lubricating oil, then you need to understand the corrosion of lubricating oil on yellow metal, because some extreme pressure lubricating oil contains active sulfur, will corrode yellow metal.
Through infrared spectrum detection, can find lubricating oil misuse or mixing. In addition, it is best to cooperate with the use of ferrography analysis, you can find whether the equipment wear. Because of lubricating oil misuse or mixing, it is likely to bring wear and tear to the equipment.
The misuse of lubricating oil may also be the wrong viscosity, it may be the wrong choice of viscosity, or the oil mixed with other viscosity of oil. If the viscosity of the oil is too high, or high viscosity oil is mixed with it, wear and spatter lubrication will be observed in the gear system. For hydraulic system, will cause equipment response is slow, oil filtration rate is reduced.
For low oil viscosity, equipment wear will almost always occur.
If the viscosity of the lubricating oil is suspected to be incorrect, it can be tested for viscosity. In addition, metal element detection can also be carried out, because lubricating oil with different viscosity, even if it is the same product series, the content of additives will be different (additives contain some metal elements).
If the viscosity of the lubricating oil is not correct, the recommended treatment is to replace the oil. For a large amount of oil system, it is necessary to partially replace the new oil, and gradually replace the lubricating oil suitable for viscosity.
